Brief Introduction to the Clinical Medicine Department
    Clinical Medicine Department has a long history and great prestige. It has been developing a stronger and larger department over 80 years. The management system of The Communist Party , administration is sound. It has 4 characteristic large comprehensive affiliated hospitals as well as 16 large comprehensive hospitals as teaching bases for clinical medicine. Currently , It has a workforce of 3045, including 2 academicians , 19 professors especially engaged by Henan provincial government,48 visiting professors ,44 doctoral supervisors,269 master mentors ,227 professors and 372 associate professors. There are 150 teachers who has a PhD and 397 teachers who has master’s degree among the staffs. All these has formed a rational subject structure. In recent 3 years, The various subjects of Clinical Medicine Department have been supported by several funds accounting for 88.624 million (RMB). Clinical Medicine department also assumes 350 scientific research items, and has acquired 260 prizes of scientific progress at various grades for recent five years and published 750 thesises each year. Clinical medicine department convenes 25 academic conferences annually and has established relationship with 10 countries in medicine, teaching and research , which offers better opportunities and environment for medical education.

Subject Basis

    Clinical medicine specialty has 2 postdoctoral ambulatory sites. We successfully declared a doctoral site of first-class subject and 9 doctoral sites of second-class subject in Oct.2005. Besides that 22 master sites are accorded to us. Clinical medicine department has 18 key subjects cognized by HeNan province or some ministries of the country and 11 emphasis subjects cognized by some administrative bureaus .It also has one open key laboratory according to the provincial norm and 25 scientific research institutions. Staffs at the department undertake the teaching tasks of 46 courses and 4 courses among them are evaluated as excellent courses by Henan province. All those mentioned above formed the largest department of medicine, which has multi-disciplines and multi-hierarchies and good student resource and the largest amount of registered students. The system can basically ensure the quality of degree and cultivation of medical manpower.

Teaching conditions

    We have good conditions for clinical medicine teaching. There are 6 specialty skill training laboratories and 23 staff rooms. The Intranet of Zhengzhou university has already spred all over the campus. New techniques named “bao shi tong” are adopted in distance teaching and academic lectures etc. There are 100 computers and teaching appliances worth 0.29 billions in our department. The students can use 2621 open sickbeds in their clinical medicine classes. The management system of teaching is strict and normative.

Teaching quality

    We have clear concepts for running schools. We continually innovate teaching methods and update teaching content. The use rate of multiple media amounts to 100%. Bilingual teaching rate amounts to 90%. The rate of teaching in English amounts to 40%. The effective and practicable system of quality assurance has been constructed.

    Clinical Medicine Department was established as early as 1928.It has cultivated a large number of medical qualified personnel for Henan province and the nation. The measures taken in teaching are advanced, the teaching processes are normative, and the specialty characteristics are vivid. The graduates acquired a high employment rate and have a good social fame. We will enforce communication with foreign countries in the future. At present, we are still in a first-line position in the circle of education in Henan province .To a certain degree ,We are famous in peers within our country and have certain impact on the world.
