Under the guidance of modern and advanced geological theories, the atlas portrays comprehensively and systematically the data and results achieved over the past 40 years in the geological explorations and geoscientific researches of China, of which the newest data and results, in particular, represent to a certain extent the current research level of geosciences.

The atlas comprises 59 map sheets including prelude maps, national thematic maps, and regional maps. With geological maps taking the leading role, there are accompanying illustrations of characteristic features, tables, photos, and explanatory notes.

This atlas aims to provide basic geological data for the strategic ore-searching, land adjustment and management, environmental protection, geohazards control, economic construction planning, city layout, and tourist industry of China. It is also designed to help world geoscientists to know better the geology in China. The ample geological information contained in the atlas will be beneficial to international academic exchanges and collaborations for understanding and protecting the earth.

ATLAS OF NATURAL DISASTER SYSTEM OF CHINA / Chief Editor: Shi Peijun, Beijing Normal University. 每 Scales differ. 每 Beijing: Science Press, 2003 . 每 English and Chinese Version. 每 220 p.: col.;  380mm

The Atlas of Natural Disaster System of China is compiled based on the theory of ※Regional Disaster Systems§. It contains mainly two partsthe atlas of integrated natural disaster systems of China and the atlas of main natural disaster systems of China. The two series contain the same topical highlights, namely Hazard-formative Environments, Hazard-affected Bodies, Hazard-formative Factors, Disaster Effects, and Disaster Reduction or Disaster Case. There are 396 maps and 50 statistical charts in the atlas displaying systematically the patterns of formation, the regional distribution differentials and the dynamics in the development of major natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, typhoons, snow disasters, dust storms, hail disasters, etc. in China. With maps of elaborate design, complemented by text information and appendix references, the atlas presents a comprehensive explication of the elementary mechanism of China*s natural disaster system.

VEGETATION ATLAS OF CHINA / Compiled by editorial Board, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Editors in Chief: Hou Xueyu. -- Scale 1:1,000,000. Beijing: Science Press, 2001. -- ISBN 7-03-008956-1 Chinese Version, with parts abridged in English. -- 62 sheets: col.; 540mm

The 1:1000000 Vegetation Map of China is another important research achievement of Chinese Phytoecologists after the publication of the great monograph Vegetation of China in 1980. It belongs to one of the Class A topics of both the " Agricultural Natural Resources and Developmental Regionalization" in the 108 key projects of the " Outline of 1978-1989 National Scientific and Technological Development Programme" and the fifth key geoscientific project , the "Basic Research of the Water and Land Resources and Land Rational Utilization", in the Disciplinary Programme of the National Natural Sciences worked out in 1978 . Its Compilation was assigned formally by the former State Agricultural Commission, the former State Science and Technology Commission and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1979. In June of the same year, a special meeting attended by related scientific research organizations and universities all over the country was held at the Institute of Botany, CAS and soon after that, the Editorial Board of Vegetation Map of China was established. Academician Hou Xueyu was elected as the editor-in -chief.
The 1:1000000 Vegetation Map of China shows the present vegetation of China. It is based on the results of the nationwide vegetation surveys and their associated researches in 50 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China and the relevant data from the aerial remote sensing and satellite images, as well as geology, pedology and climatology. The map, composed of 60 separated 1:1000000 sheets, covers the whole China continent and illustrates comprehensively the geographical distributions of 11 groups of vegetation types, 796 formations and their subformations of 54 vegetation types and about 2000 dominants of communities, main agricultural crops and economic plants.
'The 1:1 000 000 Vegetation Atlas of China is the most detailed and accurate vegetation map of the Whole country up to now.' - by Wu Chengyi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
